Zane Years Eve 2010
I was looking forward to my New Years Eve party for months. It was going to be a relaxing event where I could talk with Three Sheets fans one-on-one and just enjoy myself. The previous events had become extremely large, and I never really got to have much fun or spend more than a minute with anyone.
But the 2009-2010 Zane Years Eve party was set to be different. There were 150 guests, a small group considering that we rented out the entire bar. There was a great DJ, amazing food, and a great selection of beers. It was a recipe for an amazing party. But, I forgot just one thing...
With all of the excitement, I forgot to warn everyone not to feed Steve McKenna alcohol, lest he turn into a Gremlin. So around 10pm I was called to the manager's office, where they were reviving Steve with water and coffee.
They told us that being familiar with the show, they actually thought that Steve's condition was pretty funny. If he was not "Steve McKenna" they said they would have kicked him out an hour before. "Why", I asked; not that I didn't know. "Well, he has already broken about seven glasses, knocked a few people over while dancing, and has a crazy look in his eyes". He did...
Chuck Cross, aka Big Smooth, who was attending the party, offered to, well, babysit. So, we all left the office, with the beefy 6'5" Big Smooth leading Steve downstairs. It took all of two minutes for Steve to slip away, run onto the dance floor and rip off his shirt. A Prince song was playing, so who could blame him.
Steve was relatively well behaved for the rest of the party. He only broke a few more glasses and toppled one or two more people. In the end, it was a great party. We toasted to the new year as I stood on the bar and sabered a bottle. It was a good night.
On another note, if Steve McKenna turns up, just call the number on his collar. He doesn't bite. Just don't feed him any beer!
