O'Wow what a party! Send your pictures to Photos@ZaneLamprey.com so we can post them on the site and re-live the event.
Here's how it went down:
On Saturday, March 14th, 2009, The Knitting Factory, which has been rocking out in Manhattan for the last fourteen years, said we threw one of the biggest and wildest parties they'd ever had. What did they expect? It was Zane Patrick's Day!
It started at noon with a VIP Irish luncheon for about 100 people. As the VIPs ate, I hopped on stage, told some stories, answered some questions, and busted some balls. We then all went downstairs and spent some time talking and taking photos on the Mutineer Magazine Green Carpet. Oh, by the way, I'm on the cover of the magazine next month and wrote the featured article. Buy it.
At 2pm, I brought the VIPs (or "the fancy people," as I like to call them) to the VIP balcony. I then hid out behind stage while everyone else filed in and started to "get their drink on." Jameson's Revenge, a KICK-ASS Irish band, rocked it about 2:30 when Steve, who wasn't "Steve McKenna'd" at this point, got on stage and brought me out. I was introduced to the baddest, coolest, classiest, most bitchin' crowd I've even had the pleasure of stepping in front of. You guys are constantly making me forget that what I do is a job. You complete me...
After properly warning everyone about what happens when Steve gets Steve McKenna'd, I showed a new Three Sheets Season Four Video, answered questions, and made an announcement about the fate of Three Sheets... Here is a summary of the announcement, as of March 15th ...
While I did get 'the call' from the production company that Three Sheets has a new home, the deal is not yet done. SO... I can't make the official announcement yet. Some people jumped the gun by telling me that it was a done deal... That doesn't mean that it's not going to happen-- that means that it IS. I've even been told to get ready to shoot season five. In fact, the 'official' announcement will probably happen this week. I'll post it on my web site the second I get the official nod. And, if you're resourceful, you can find out the name of the network. Steve McKenna spilled the beans and announced it on stage... Steeeeeeve!!!
After the "announcement," I brought my buddy Wes on stage to let everyone know about the Dirty Limerick Contest. Wes is a dirty bird...
After more colorful rhymes, I brought Jim-the-Cop onstage. The idea was that he would chug a beer, and anyone who beat his time would get a strand of green beads. BUT, he actually Jim-The-Cop'd and spilled beer down his shirt. After I kicked him off stage to a booing and cheering crowd, I had to explain that by official ZaneCrawl rules, Jim-the-Copping automatically adds three seconds to his time of 8.9 seconds. So, let's just say that everyone who chugged, got green beads...
After yapping with the crowd, Jameson's Revenge took the stage again and I went down to the Mutineer Magazine Green Carpet to take photos with everyone. I got to meet some great people, answer questions and take a million photos.
The rest of the night I worked the stage, worked the room and worked the green carpet. Steve got Steve McKenna'd and didn't disappoint. It wouldn't be one of my parties if Steve McKenna didn't rip off his shirt, dance like a maniac and do a stage dive. At Zane Years Eve, his stage dive lasted about three seconds as everyone lowered him to the floor and wiped his sweat off their hands. BUT, on THIS night, he was carried all around the room and returned to the stage. I was laughing the whole time. I think I peed myself a little...
Then the insanity started...
The Limerick Contest, although it didn't go according to plan, was hilarious. The Steve dives continued. The drinks flowed. And the Knitting Factory rocked! From Jim-the-Cop Jim-the-Copping, Steve McKenna getting Steve McKenna'd, Jameson's Revenge kicking arse,
DJ Merenda rocking the house, Matt & Matt whaling on the bagpipes and drums, the very talented Irish Dancers getting me onstage to make a fool of myself, Wes and his dirty limericks, to you guys somehow being rowdy, classy, crazy and cool... THAT was a good Zane Patrick's Day!Also a BIG thanks to Karen Marines for making this event happen. Without her, it wouldn't have....
Cheers, Slainte, and I hope to see you at Zano de Mayo!
Zane
