We're shooting the TV SHOW in BOULDER (July 1) and DENVER (July 2).  The LIVE STAND UP SHOW that we're doing, called "Drinking Made Easy" will be shot as a one-hour comedy special! 

On the Three Sheets front, you've bought 2,111 BEERS for Travel Channel!  Let's get everyone at Travel Channel so Steve McKenna'd, they'll have to order a season five. We're delivering as much Maui Brewing Company beer as you can buy, by June 30th, when Three Sheets premiers on the Travel Channel, as a way of saying "Thank you!" and "Hey, how 'bout a season five?!". Lastly, as you may know, while shooting the TV series, Drinking Made Easy for HDNet, in Milwaukee two days ago.  I demolished the standing record of 9 and ate 23 dead scorpions in shots of rum. Update: I spent last night paying the price. Ouch...

Help me buy Travel Channel some beer, and Maui Brewing Company, which we featured in the “Three Sheets: Hawaii” episode will ship it to the Travel Channel offices, in Maryland, on June 30th!  It’s our way of shouting “Thank you, Travel Channel!”.  It’s also a nice way of nudging them and saying “So, how ‘bout a season five!?”

Help me get the word out about Three Sheets, support a great charity, and fill up Travel Channel’s lobby with beer!  Maybe they'll all get Steve McKenna'd and order 99 more episodes!  The beer will arrive with a card with every contributor's name on it (based on the name you used through PayPal).  I will post the final tally, along with everyone's names, here (on my web site) on July 1st.

THREE SHEETS HAS BEEN SAVED!!!

IT'S OFFICIAL, Travel Channel has picked up Three Sheets! (fist pump) Finally!

What does this mean?

It means that Travel Channel will be airing existing episodes of Three Sheets on Wednesday nights starting June 30th at 11pm and 11:30pm.  They will be showing the 52 existing episodes of Three Sheets from the past four seasons, which started on MOJO and most recently aired on Fine Living Network.  From Ireland (our first episode) to Amsterdam (the last one we shot), they got 'em all.

What does that mean about a NEW season?

Bottom line... If people watch it, Travel Channel said that they'd love to talk about a fifth season.

There you have it!  From Travel Channel's lips, to my ears, to my finger tips, to your computer screen!

Do I want to shoot another season of Three Sheets?

Hellllllls Yeah!  I haven't shot Three Sheets for 18 months!  I'd love to get the ol' gang together-- Curtiss-the-camera-guy, Eric-the-sound-guy, Christina, Mike, and Steve McKenna!  Sydney, Cairo, Rome, Paris, Monaco, Shanghai-- Let's do it!

How am I celebrating?

I'm going to buy Travel Channel a beer!  In my experience, you buy somebody a beer, they pick you up for a fifth season.  In fact, with your help, I'd like to buy everyone at Scripps Networks (Travel Channel, Food Network, Cooking Channel, DIY, HGTV, GACTV) a drink!  For anyone who wants in, we're gonna buy everyone a beer AND contribute to a children's charity.  I've been talking with Maui Brewing Company about shipping a boatload of beer from Maui, Hawaii (which we featured in Three Sheets: Hawaii) to Chevy Chase, Maryland (where Travel Channel is headquartered). If anything is left over, they can opt to ship it to Scripp's headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee...

How do you buy a round?

Check back here on Monday (6/21).  I'll have all of the info about how you can buy Travel Channel a "Thank you beer" with me.  We'll ship it all on June 30th, the day Three Sheets hits the airwaves once again.  We're setting up a PayPal account to make it easy for everyone.  I assure you that I'm not making a dime on this.  In fact, I'll buy the first 100 beers.  Once everything has been calculated, I'll let you know how many beers have been sent, how much the beer cost, and how much money was raised for the children's charity.

Watching TV

We've wrapped on shooting 11 episodes of "Drinking Made Easy" for HDNet-- 13 more to go.  They'll be premiering 24 episodes starting Thursdays this fall.  The show is me, along with my correspondents, Steve McKenna and Marc Ryan, exploring drinks, drinking history and drinking customs across this beautiful country of ours. 

We're traveling around in tour buses-- one for us and one for the crew.  Steve has a DVD player in his bunk, so he's entertained.  He watches Anchorman and Gladiator every night.  Marc has a Jameson dispenser, so he's happy.  He drinks and watches Steve McKenna every night.  So, he's entertained...

It appears as though Travel Channel is interested in seeing me imbibe my way across the rest of the globe.  More on that soon.  I gotta run into Target to buy Steve some more DVDs...

Travel Channel answered my letter...

I answered a call from an unknown number today, something I rarely do.  The woman on the other side of the call introduced herself as the new president of Travel Channel.  

She made her introduction and then politely, and very business-like, got to the point.

"Do you know why I'm calling?", she said.

"Ummm... Is it to ask me to have the Three Sheets fans stop blowing up your FaceBook page?" I quipped.

"No..." she said.  And then the conversation continued.

I'm not sure if what was discussed after that point was confidential.  We talked for a few minutes, and then the call was done.  So... I'm not going to transcribe the interaction (thus leaving a written record), but I am most certainly talking about it on stage, as I continue my comedy tour.  

When I got the call informing me that Three Sheets fans were responding to EVERY Travel Channel post with "... expletive that!-- all we want is Three Sheets!", I didn't report on it.  I did talk about it in front of the live audiences, but didn't write about it (until now).

When I receive another call permitting me to share the news, I will.  Until then, my fingers are sealed (I won't type about it), but after a cocktail (or two) on stage with Steve McKenna, I'll probably spill the beans.

Save Three Sheets?

While the fate of Three Sheets lies in the hands of the Travel Channel, the fact of the matter is that I AM shooting a TV show right show.  We're covering drinking customs, cocktails and libations in US cities.  We're in the middle of shooting 24 episodes of "Drinking Made Easy" for HDNet.

We've already shot 10 episodes and (as the crew is waiting for me outside the bus) we are about to shoot the Bostom episode.  Do you want Three Sheets?  Or do you want me, drinking, entertaining, and educating.  Personally, I'd take both.  But only one am I able to guarantee.

A LETTER TO TRAVEL CHANNEL

Dear Travel Channel,

I'm perplexed as to why you have not picked up Three Sheets-- let alone order a fifth season.

The show, which was primarily seen by people on MOJO (a network that most people haven't even heard of) has enabled me to pack venues with my stand-up, spot people wearing Pleepleus shirts every other day, and get a "Love the show, Zane" every time I leave the house (which is a tour bus for the next few months).  

Is it the subject matter...? Is me exploring drinking cultures to risky for advertisers?  Alcohol and beer sponsors show up on everything from the NBA to NASCAR (Does that make sense?  Beer sponsoring a car race?) It can't be that...

Are you bananas?  Is that it?

It's not the fans... I've never heard of fans caring more for a show than they do for Three Sheets.  It's not like there was some media blitz.  It's popularity has been spread by word of mouth (1.3 million views on Hulu.com in the last year-- that's impressive). The fans are dedicated, determined, and the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting (the ones that I've met).

They mean no harm by overwhelming your FaceBook page.  They're just fighting for their (and my) beloved show and don't know how else to make you listen-- although we all know what would make them stop... ;)

Is it the fact that it was born somewhere else?  Does it feel like your picking up the scraps of two defunct networks (MOJO and FLN)?  That's like being handed a beautiful 60" TV.  Hang it on your wall, plug it in and turn it on.  You don't have to build it from scratch-- We already know that it works.

The fans are baffled, as am I.  But, I have an idea...

What if we started fresh?  We could get the old gang together and start a new show.  Same crew, same sound effects, same monkey, same affable host-- different name. A fresh start with a built-in audience.

I haven't shot Three Sheets for 17 months.  Right now I'm shooting an amazing show for HDNet featuring domestic drinking culture, customs and history.  We have America covered, but there's a world of drinking left to explore... 

Or, should I just make another call to Mark Cuban?  I pitched him the show we're shooting now and he said "Yes" quicker than you can say "Dirk Nowitzki, stay in Dallas".

Either way, please let us know.  That's the great thing about drinking.  Win or lose, it's appropriate.  We just want to break out the champagne and have a party.
